A dog named "Billy Bob" has been in an Ohio animal shelter for over 1,000 days, but a new family could be on the horizon.
The 8-year-old senior dog arrived at the League for Animal Welfare in Batavia, a village in Ohio with a population of about 28,000, in April 2021, the animal rescue said Wednesday in a Facebook post.
"Billy Bob is still here," the League for Animal Welfare's social post said. "After some promising meet-and-greets with some big-hearted humans, we really hoped he was on his way to his new family. But no such luck."
The senior dog has been at the shelter for 1,058 days and is only a few weeks from hitting his 3rd anniversary at the League for Animal Welfare, according to the social post.
"That's not fair to any dog, let alone a senior dog. Please, help us find his family," the Facebook post said.
Billy Bob 'is a lover," the League for Animal Welfare says
When Billy Bob came to the shelter he was "painfully afraid of everything around him" due to the dog being seized from another rescue authorities shut down for cruelty and neglect, the League for Animal Welfare said last month in a Facebook post.
"He spent his first year with us in a wonderful foster home, learning how to be a family member," the shelter's social post said.
Billy Bob "is a lover and fine with other dogs," the Facebook post said. The dog adores peanut butter, playing ball with people and snuggling, according to the social post.
If adopted, Billy Bob would like to be in a home without cats or small children, the League for Animal Welfare said.
"Overall he’s a quiet senior dog that can fit pretty easily into a loving home,” according to the shelter. "This boy takes some patience to get to know you, but he's just a warm chocolate love muffin - who needs someone to finally give him a chance."
